2012 Makeup Favorites

I was inspired to do my 2012 favorites after watching about a zillion of them on youtube. Also, sorry this is so late into January already, it's been crazy!
Makeup
Mascara-I used the CoverGirl LashBlast Length for numerous months in 2012. I wore like 75 coats, but my lashes are my favorite feature. It was a decent formula, though I have used better. I think for 2013 I'm going to use a formula of mascara that isn't as flakey or dramatic as this.
Eyeshadow-Maybelline Color Tattoo! I used the Maybelline Color Tattoo in bold gold and got so many compliments. It compliments blue eyes nicely--actually, I think it compliments all eye colors nicely.
Eyeliner-Elf cream eyeliner in olive. It's okay. I'm hoping to explore eyeliner more this year. When I bought the eyeliner, it appeared to be brown/black, and that's also how it shows up on the eyes. I'm not so sure why they call it "olive". It does apply quite flakey, I'm not sure if I just happened buy a bad liner or something. The brush it comes with is great, though. Is it worth the $3? Yes.
Concealer-Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer for dark circles. It's so good I actually repurchased it. Doesn't settle into fine lines, decent coverage for my insanely dark circles, and it can be used on hyperpigmentation (dark marks) and blemishes. It blends really well and has a nice satiny finish. The packaging isn't great, but it's worth the compromise for such a wonderful concealer.
Foundation-I wasn't a fan of any foundation I tried in 2012, unfortunately.
Powder-I used the e.l.f. essential pressed powder in ivory. It kept me matte and was only $1.
Lip Balm-the e.o.s. smooth spheres win for lip balm! I used the red one, summer fruit, for a lot of 2012.
Lip Gloss-I found myself gravitating towards liplicious's Fruit Punch Lip Gloss for all of summer 2012. It lasts for 2-3 hours, it tastes amazing (just like Crystal Lite fruit punch) and it gives your lips a nice color.
Lipstick-I didn't find myself using too much lipstick in 2012. It was more about the hydration, I guess.
Nail Polish-It's hard to choose a favorite. The one I probably wore the most (and this is still hard to determine) might be essie's No More Film. It's shown and described as a purple on the essie website, but it's really more of a navy blue with some dark purple undertones. Nonetheless, it looks nice on my hands (if you know me, you know what I mean) and applies smoothly.

Skin Care
Cleanser-It's a tie between Philosophy's Purity Made Simple and Cetaphil Dermacontrol Oil Control Foam Wash. Purity Made Simple is great for sensitive skin and leaves your skin makeup free and clean. It's a bit more pricey but definitely worth it. The Cetaphil Oil Control wash is great for when your skin is getting a little bit oily. It actually absorbs the oil right up and leaves you feeling super clean, and it's very gentle. It does have a strange odor, but that's okay, considering the price of $10 on amazon (click here for the link to amazon). Because it's a foaming cleanser, it also lasts for quite a while.
Toner-I am in love with the Simple Soothing Facial Toner. It doesn't irritate skin and leaves the nicest, cleanest feeling. It's the only toner I've ever tried, and the only one I plan to try; I can't imagine it getting much better. It prevents breakouts and helps with oil. It has been repurchased numerous times. The bottle does last a while though. I got it when it first came out, and it was the only simple skincare product I actually like and think is appropriate for sensitive skin. I definitely recommend this. It could be my favorite product of 2012. At around $7, there's no hurt in trying out this toner.
Moisturizer-Honestly, I can't pick one. They either lack an SPF (which is a big no-no for me when it comes to moisturizers) or irritate my skin (most common situation which usually leads to a fiery, unpleasant sensation on my face, never a fun experience), or worse, make my skin more oily and red with irritation. I'm on the hunt for the perfect moisturizer.

Random
Youtubers-Male-JoshCollierMUA
He is the best male youtuber of 2012, for me. He is a real makeup artist for hourglass cosmetics and is a big fan of checking and explaining all of the ingredients in products. It's really useful and he's very practical, and nice.
Female-DiamondsandHeels14
Cassandra Bankson is a model who has acne, and is one expert at covering it up with makeup. She is the nicest person I have ever seen and has curly hair like me! She's relatable, funny, kind, and knows what she's talking about.
Book-The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Brilliant. Genius. Perfect characters. Memorable. Loved. All great words to describe it. The best way to actually know what I'm talking about is to go read it. So do it. Now. Not even kidding, it's the best book ever.
Movie-Breaking Dawn Part 2. I know, it's Twilight, yeah. But oh my gosh it was so good. Bill Condon (I believe he was the director) deserves a million dollars. And so does whoever wrote the screenplay. It couldn't have been better.
TV Show-Bones. I love this show so much. There is just such a depth to each character, and every episodes a mystery!
Also, I loved The Big Bang Theory. That show cracks me up so much.

Thanks for reading! Let me know your favorite of 2012 in the comments :)
