There was just an earthquake in New Hampshire and I felt it and I was on the phone with my friend. My house frequently shakes because we have quite a shake-y washer and dryer, but they weren't even on. I could feel the whole house vibrating and could see the walls and everything in my room shivering like I do during a snowstorm. So, what did I do? I screamed "earthquake!!!" so that my friend on the phone and everyone in my house could hear me. No one else in New England seemed to have instantly made that connection.... And then I check the earthquake tracker website. Unfortunately, it takes more than twelve seconds for them to update. Especially when the top Google option is the one they have stopped maintaining.
What is my analysis: people need to learn more about earthquakes. I studied earthquakes last year and obviously knew that one was occurring (even though I was joking a little bit and had to check for confirmation....). Also, New England needs more earthquake warnings. Just because we aren't in the ring of fire doesn't mean that we aren't susceptible to earthquakes. I didn't get any earthquake warnings, and I was on the Internet all day.
Please excuse my babbling,
Lauren :)
I'm the friend, I feel special.
